2: By mail, if eligible (read below for instructions)
Some drivers prefer to handle the renewal process by mail, rather than taking advantage of assistance services, visiting the DDS in person, or via available online services. Service by mail is available with limitations. Read below for additional details or visit your local DDS.
3: Via a local DDS office
If you prefer to access DDS services in person or your specific needs require an in-person visit, most, if not all, driver license services can be handled at a physical DDS office location. Varying DDS offices sometimes supply different types of services so you will need to check before your visit to make sure the DDS closest to you provides the service you require. In addition, you can call to see if your local DDS allows you to make a personal appointment. Read more below to see if an in-person visit is either preferred or required.
Applying for a Georgia change of address is fairly simple, but there are some considerations to keep in mind.
The DDS requires that motorists file a Georgia change of address form within 60 days after they move. The DDS will provide drivers with a replacement license (at no charge) as long as the Georgia drivers license is not due to expire within 150 days from the date of notification. Otherwise, the change of address is considered to be a renewal and standard fees apply.
The first time a Georgia change of address is requested from the DDS, there is no cost to make the change. However, fees apply with any second change of address requested anytime during the five- or eight-year license term periods. If a change of address request is made within 150 days of expiration, it is considered to be a license renewal and the following fees will apply:
- $20 for a five-year license renewal
- $32 for an eight-year license renewal

The DDS must verify and any address change with the one that is registered with the post office. It takes two to three weeks for the DDS to complete the address verification process.
If a request is denied, motorists must visit a local Customer Service Center in person.
